...and roll the credits!
You have zero creativity.
You enter an art school.
You've been presented with a blank piece of paper.
In your mind, you know exactly what you want to paint - a beautiful scenery of a wooden house atop mountains with beautiful trees surrounding it and a breathtaking lake to boost.
You don't know how to start.
So, you take lessons on how to draw. How to paint. How to add dimension and life to your art. How to make people forget for one second where they are and picture themselves in that wonderful image - they can almost smell the fresh air and hear the twittering of birds.
After months and months of hardwork and burning the midnight oil, you've achieve this skill. This wonderful priceless talent that is your artwork.
You present this once-a-white-paper-and-now-a-colourful-canvas to the art school's exhibition. You are excited to see your work being displayed for the first time.
Along with your fellow students and members of the public, you anticipated that day. And when the day comes, you enter the exhibition hall, in search for your masterpiece. And you find it!
But below your exquisite work, the caption says, "Home is where the heart is." And that is all.
Your name or any indication of the artist is nowhere to be seen. It feels as if you've been robbed of something intangible. Your heart squeezed and the thought of no one (except yourself) knows you made this comes crashing through your mind!
Are you angry? Hurt? Disappointed? Sad? Upset? Appalled?!
Maybe you're all of those things and more. But why?
Because you did not receive the credit you deserve!
Always remember, give credit where credit is due!

Water Is Denser Than Oil
Today I have a Tip of the Day.
You know that annoying moment when you are eating french fries with lots of olive oil and the oil drips and lands on your satin skirt? Then you have to walk around trying to hide that stain in case strangers thought you accidentally peed on your outfit.
You quickly look for a glass of water, dab tissue into it and try your best to get rid of the stain. But no matter how hard you scrub and even when the tissue is torn to shreds, the stain stubbornly refuses to come off!
Well, actually your help is in your little handbag. Take out your compact powder and dab a generous amount on the stain, covering it entirely. Wait half a minute and gently dust off the powder...and voila!
Stain-free and ready to party!
The reason why this works is because the powder can absorb the oil. :) have fun not worrying anymore!
P/s: any type of powder works! Baby powder, makeup powder, etc!

Wedding vs. Marriage: An Opportunity Cost
Currently Reading: Her World magazines

I'm on a random mood today and there has been 2 things on my mind lately I've been wanting to blog about.
Recently, I've heard this quote:
Love like you've never been hurt before.
I find that so true. Even better than its sister quote which goes, "Love like you've never loved before."
How many of us has had our hearts broken at least once before? Yep, most of us have been there, cried for hours and tried to accept the truth. But when you start to love again, why not try to love as if your heart had never been broken? Because then, you will be able to give it your all. To give a 110% to your significant other. To erase all the hurt and sadness that are viciously lying on the surface of your heart.
Of course, it's good to incorporate past experiences to the future. You would know what to do, what not to do, what pleases and what offends. But try to "love like you've never been hurt before" and trust me, your other half would be ever so grateful to have you.
:)
This week, I learned that weddings are not cheap. They're not cheap at all and mostly it's due to our culture. Apparently, having an extragavant wedding is necessary, i.e. grand venue, mouth-watering food, presence of VIPs, etc. All these are supposedly needed to give a more presentable image for the bride and groom and their families. So they spend thousands and thousands of dollars just for their weddings. Some are even forced to take out a loan as they have no other choice.
But I find that shouldn't be the case. WHY must we have a grand wedding? Granted, I wouldn't want a shabby wedding either one day since we only get married once *fingers crossed* (LOL!) and it's good to make that special day a day we'll always remember by. But a simple one will do just fine with merely your family, relatives and close friends. But no, in our culture, we need to invite everyone! I'm not even exaggerating! First on the long list is your immediate family, then comes your relatives and your relatives' relatives. Next are your best buddies, people you've known for decades. Then those you've been to school with. Then your colleagues from every single job you've had. Then your parents' friends. And it goes on and on and on and on. If you happen to forget to invite someone, you'll hurt their feelings and/or make them wonder if they're not important enough in your life, etc.
My goodness.
I wish I COULD have a simple wedding one day. One without any hassle and just enjoy the day with all the people I'm closed with. And one that would not use up my entire life savings.
Because why should we spend so much money on the wedding when it's the marriage that's important. Marriage is for the long run. Imagine you spend B$ 30,000 on your wedding, maybe from your savings or a personal loan. Then what are you left with the day after? How will you support your future family? Think of the things you'll need to pay for: Water/Electricity bills, phone bills, maintenance of car, furniture, clothes, FOOD. Sure, money can be earned back, but will you be quick enough to earn it before you take out another loan or even mortgage your house.
I've been wondering about this issue for sometime now. No, I'm not getting married anytime soon, but a lot of people around me are and that's what got me thinking. All my savings just for that one day? No, thank you!
Well, anyway, that's all from me tonight. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend, everyone! Drive safe and drink plenty of water.

Liberation At Its Best

To those who prefer my "Views on Life" posts, I hope you enjoy this entry because it has nothing to do with beauty/makeup/skincare whatsoever :)
I have had the fortunate opportunity to experience a training with a truckload of new information the past couple of months. I know it has definitely expanded my views of a bank, what it does, how a customer sees us and what goes on BEHIND it all. And what's the best thing about my training was that we had a whole week on developing interpersonal skills. It was amazing.
I now see and categorise people into four different types. I try to understand all these types and adjust my own types to suit them and the situation. I find that it somehow makes it so much easier to deal with things although it has made me even more aware of things than usual. I know how the most successful people in the world function in their everyday lives. But I do understand it would take many many years and experience to get used to that.
Anyway, that all seems very vague. So let's jump to a topic that is more related to the post's title. Liberation. Freedom. Whatever you like to call it.
A few years ago, I went through an extremely difficult breakup. Why was it difficult? Sure, it was just a normal breakup but what made it tough on me was because there was no closure. So you don't know if he still likes you, if YOU still like him, if he's seeing someone else, if he still cares about you, etc etc etc. No "talk" to say things really have ended so you wait by your phone night after night and jump every single time your phone rings to realise disappointingly that it's not him.
Looking back, I felt like I wasted my time over that heartbreak. I wasted so many months looking for closure. I doubt closure could have helped me much in any way. Now, I'm in a proper relationship with a guy for a little more than a year :) I finally know how it truly feels like to be someone's girlfriend. How it feels like to have someone really care about you, to worry about you, to do little things for you that you could do for yourself but it's so much better to be treated like a princess and all that jazz.
How did I come about this guy? What made me let go of the previous one to be able to give my whole heart to my boyfriend? The answer: Knowing how to let go.
Letting go. It's two words that are so easily said but absolutely hard to do. To move on is something we all have to do at one time or another. Time heals. But for some, we can be stuck at that "time" for weeks, months or even years. But once you let go, once you find that RIGHT person to do so, you will feel as if you've just woken up to a whole new world. A world in which you were completely oblivious to before.
So if you're at that stage where you're going through a difficult breakup, trust me, I've been there before, too. It was hard but I have amazing friends who supported me the entire way. And once that special someone comes along, you just know all the horrible things you had to go through before were to prepare you to be grateful for what you're about to have. And that would make you appreciate things and life even more. To know that all the mistakes before lead to you this. To today. To now.
You make your own happiness and anyone else who tells you otherwise can go lock themselves in an oven and bake themselves to death :)

Welcoming 2011 With Opened Arms
Currently Watching: Naruto Shippuden
Currently Playing: The Legend of Spyro
It's time to say goodbye to 2010 and HELLO to 2011.
Two new year's eve ago, I made a list of the BEST of 2008.
Just for fun, I'll shall be blogging a similar post this year!
Every year, there is something that would make me feel as if it's the best year of my life (so far!). I'm feeling that again this year.
So, you may (or may not) out of curiousity, wonder why has 2010 been so awesome for me.
1) I GRADUATED with a BBA with honours (2:1), and yes, I'm heck proud of it! After four years of hardwork and spending thousands upon thousands of my dad's hard-earned money, everything has finally paid off! Lesson learned: If you work hard, you will never regret it.
2) I managed to find a PERMANENT JOB right after graduating. This was purely based on luck. However, I'm venturing out of my comfort zone to find a more challenging and higher-paid occupation. Lesson learned: Attitude, ethics & politics are the most important things to a perfect job.
3) I became extremely obsessed with my SKIN. I've bought many products and spent lots of money in order to protect my skin from ageing. I think I've become really scared of getting old or looking it. Lesson learned: SAY NO TO WRINKLES!
4) For many months now, I am in a steady RELATIONSHIP with a boy-next-door :) He has shown me what it really feels like to be in a solid and true relationship. To know how it feels like to be constantly thought of. To understand the fuzzy feeling in my heart. To be aware of the butterflies in my stomach. To enjoy the skipping of my heart at the sight of his smile. To know the meaning of love. Lesson learned: Patience is truly a virtue. If you're patient enough to wait for the right person, you'll reap all the benefits of being in a good relationship.
5) And last but not least, I've developed a need to see my PUPPY everyday. The way it greets me everytime I come home from work, wagging its fluffy tail is just too irresistable. The way it's adorable eyes look at you when it wants food. And best thing is, it does tricks! I can make him sit on cue and lift his paws up for a handshake. So there, my puppy is the best dog in the world!!! Lesson learned: Love your pet, and it'll love you back.
The above is by no means an exhaustive list of all the happenings of 2010. I've just decided to write up on 5 of the most memorable things that have happened the past year.
Definitely looking forwards to 2011!
Have a happy holiday, everyone! May your new year be filled with love, happiness, health and wealth.

Pinched Cheeks
Finished Reading: He's Just Not That Into You
Currently Watching: Naruto Shippuden

My favourite time of the year is barely a week away and in order to spread the holiday cheer, I have a new POTD post. Half of the world associates Christmas with Winter/Snow. Although I don't live in that part of the world, I do know how it feels like to have dull skin/face during cold weathers.
How do we girls combat this? Now, up to a year ago, I personally do not believe in putting makeup on any part of my face except my eyes and lips. However, after I've discovered the wonders of BB Cream, I became more daring. But I digress. The answer to these cold wintery weather is...BLUSHER!
Yes, nowadays, because it's rainy season in Brunei, it's really cold and I can't apply much makeup lest the rain splatters on my face and ruins my mascara or eyeliner (haha!). So, in order to look more awake, I apply blusher to add a little bit of colour to my face.
POTD: The FACESHOP's Lovely ME:EX Blusher in OR202

However, I've been using The Faceshop's Lovely ME:EX Blusher in OR202 everyday for more than a week and my skin is still fine. I love that it's a bit powdery yet upon application, it's very smooth and has a creamy effect. It's supposed to be applied with a brush but I prefer using my fingers because I can have more control over it.
This blusher can be found in Faceshop outlets. They only cost B$ 13.90 each (with 10% discount if you're a member! HORRAY!). It comes in four different colours. Red, Pink, Violet and Orange. I got the orange one because it seems to suit my skintone best. It has a little bit of a shimmer but it's not very obvious so it can be used both daytime and nighttime. I only noticed the shimmer when I was in the car and the Sun reflected off the glitters. It's a nice effect, to be completely honest.
It gives me a very natural look and brightens up my face. If you're not a heavy makeup wearer like myself, going out with just the blusher will do. It gives your cheeks that subtle rosy look. Really love this product. Great as a gift, great for yourself!
And I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and an even better New Year 2011!
All the best and may good health, love and wealth come knocking on your doorstep!

Your Body Is A Temple
Currently Reading: J.K. Rowling - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I know that in the past year, my blog has unintentionally turned into a beauty blog.
I've reviewed products upon products for make up, hair, skin, etc.
However, it's time we discuss about beauty...from within.
Yes, our skin is the largest organ and we (well, most of us, anyway) do whatever we can to protect it. Lotions, creams, body butter, SPF and many many more. Great, now we look good on the outside, but what about our inside? By that, I don't mean our attitudes, personalities and characteristics, but our internal system.
My knowledge in Biology is very limited. However, there are some tips and tricks of keeping our bodies kicking healthily which we all know by common sense or hearsay. The Internet is also a big help ;)
Obviously, today's products of the day relate to HEALTH.
Tranditional Japanese Green Tea
Green tea comes in powdered-form, teabags and canned. Traditionally, the Japanese use the powder as it is more authentic. However, as green tea became more and more popular, green tea came in bags which you can just add water to and instantly enjoy your tea. Canned green tea are a type of non-carbonated soft drink. In terms of health benefits, I would rate the powdered-form as the healthiest and the canned as the least healthiest.
Green tea acts as an anti-oxidant which can prevent cancer. Also, it is excellent for those going on a diet because it helps to lose weight. Not only does green tea does wonders for our internal body, it is also great for our skin, keeping it looking glowy and moisturised.
I try to drink green tea a few times a week, although everyday is a more recommended dosage. I use teabags (Brand: BOH) and good thing is, if you're at home, after you're done with the teabags, you can recycle them and use them as eyemasks. The elements in the greentea will help reduce eyebags and puffiness.
POTD: Dark Chocolate
Which girl doesn't love chocolate? I know I do! The next time you're out junk-food shopping, opt for dark chocolates, the higher the cocoa content, the better. They're a better choice than milk or white chocolate. Also, they contain anti-oxidants and falvonoids. Studies showed that dark chocolate helps to prevent heart diseases, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure. Just a small bar a day will do. However, just because it has such benefits, one should never have an overdose of chocolate. As they say, too much of a good thing can be bad for you.
Those are the two products of the day I'm doing today. Tata for now! Happy Monday, everyone!

As Smooth As a BB's Skin

Good weekend, all!
As promised, I will be posting my review of Etude House's Precious BB Cream Mineral.
Before that, let me take you through the journey of how this godly product came in to my life.
It's been a long time since I've heard of this "BB Cream" craze. To me, I always thought it was a new kind of foundation. And being indifferent to foundation (never used any in my life), I just shrugged it off, never doing any research on it. Never given it much thought.
When Etude House opened a branch in Brunei's Time Square, I duly paid it a visit. It was like a toddler entering a candy shop. There was so many things to look at. So many ranges of lipbalms/glosses/sticks/tints, so many types of mascara to achieve different results, so many shades of nail polishes! My time was limited, so I only browsed through and purchased a few nail polishes during my first visit.
After that, I returned on my birthday to get the 20% discount and bought more makeup. Both times I purchased something, the sales girl gave me samples of their Precious BB Cream Mineral. I just left them there and even considered giving it away.
Then one day, I got bored and decided to try some. Without a doubt, I was hooked! HOOKED!!!!! It even-out my face, covered up my blemishes. And one of the best things about it is that it had oil-control. So, of course, I wanted more and more information on this! What exactly is this miracle product?
Apparently, BB Cream stands for "Blemish Balm Cream". It is both a skin care and makeup. It acts as a concealer, foundation, moisturizer and has whitening and SPF effects. Rumour also has it that upon usage, it improves skin condition in the long run. It is not as thick as foundation but has enough coverage. You could even wear BB Cream and nothing else and will still have that pretty glow on your face.

This is what I felt for Etude's Precious BB Cream Mineral. It has SPF 30++. And just the sample can last a few applications. I have yet to buy the whole tube because I haven't had the time to visit Time Square again but I will soon. I believe it's around B$30+. The sample, of course, is free. I still have more of the sample because it was included in my Birthday Gift (along with a face mask, the collagen cream (can't wait to try that, too) and a "Moistfull peeling wash").
Anyway, that's all from me for now. If you have any questions, feel free to drop a comment. If you're interested about the BB Cream after reading my review, try to obtain samples with purchases from Etude House, Time Square to see if you like it for yourself.
